چکیده

Eleocharis R. Br. (Cyperaceae) is characterized by unbranched culms, one terminal spikelet, bisexual flowers, and bristly perianths, occurring mainly in circumboreal marshes wetlands. There are about 250 species worldwide, 15 taxa Korea have been recognized. Chromosomes Cyperaceae known to be holocentric, missing constricted centromeres during cell division. For the first time, we report chromosome counts of from Korean populations E. attenuata f. laeviseta (Nakai) H. Hara (2n = 20); parvula (Roem. & Schult.) Link ex Bluff, Nees Schauer 10); ussuriensis Zinserl. 16); valleculosa var. setosa Ohwi 16). The exhibit variations their sizes ca.1.7 μm ca. 6 μm, categorized as gradient bimodal karyotypes. karyotypes observed congruent with previous phylogenetic groups proposed. To clarify traditional classification Eleocharis, further taxonomic chromosomal investigations additional taxon sampling efforts required.

Chromosome Numbers and Karyotypes of Four Species Rubus L. from North of Iran

Karyotype study was performed across 7 populations of 4 Rubus species growing in Iran. The results showed that the chromosome numbers of R. sanctus (2n=2x=14) diploid, R. caesius, and R. discolor were (2n=4x=28) tetraploids, R. persicus (2n=8x=56) octoploid. The chromosome numbers of R. discolor, and R. persicus were reported here for the first time. Karyotypic formula also varied between the s...

Four new Fusarium taxa isolated from gramineous plants in Iran

In the course of a survey during growing seasons of 2002-04, various fields and pastures in 23 Iranian provinces were sampled. Some 1200 isolates of Fusarium from root, crown, stem and spike of various plants belonging to the family Poaceae were recovered using Nash-Snyder selective medium and purified on potato dextrose agar (PDA). Based on morphological characters, 35 Fusarium species were id...

Chromosome reduction in Eleocharis maculosa (Cyperaceae).

Chromosome numbers in Cyperaceae lower than the typical basic number x = 5 have been described for only three species: Rhynchospora tenuis (n = 2), Fimbristylis umbellaris (n = 3) and Eleocharis subarticulata (n = 3). Eleocharis maculosa is recorded here as the fourth species of Cyperaceae that has a chromosome number lower than 2n = 10, with 2n = 8, 7 and 6. The karyotype differentiation in E....

Diversity of chromosome numbers and meiotic studies in genus Anchusa (Boraginaceae) from Iran (10 Nov 2015)

The present study reports the chromosome number and meiotic behaviour of 14 populationsbelonging to four taxa of Anchusa subgenus Buglossum Gusul. from Iran. All populationsshowed the chromosome number 2n= 4x= 32. It is the first meiotic study for A. subg.Buglossum. We discuss some habit form and evolutionary aspect in the light of cytogeneticdata. The origin of polyploidy (auto-allopolyploidy)...

Chromosome Number Variation in Iranian Populations of Acorus calamus

Different ploidy levels, diploid (2n=2x=24) to hexaploid (2n=6x=72) have been reported for Acorus calamus, a perennial medicinal plant. According to available information, there is a significant relationship between the ploidy level and essential oil compositions and medicinal properties of this important genetic resource. However, there is no information about the chromosome number of A. calam...
